Delicious, as defined by organizers of the Delicious Food Show, is “best in cooking, food and entertaining”. This definition certainly holds true after attending the three day event at Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre that featured hundreds of exhibitors, cooking demos, tastings, hands-on workshops, book signings, and appearances by Food Network and international celebrity chefs.
The show, in its third successful year saw thousands of hungry foodies walk through its doors over the course of the weekend. While I can’t speak for all of them I can certainly attest to leaving content, satiated and stocked full of delectable takeaways.
I was fortunate to have taken part in a pre-show press conference that featured a mouthwatering breakfast catered by Buca. An exquisite array of both sweet and savory offerings complete with freshly squeezed juice and a barista making coffee to order. An amazing precursor to seeing greats Mario Batali, Tyler Florence, Chuck Hughes and Rob Gentile sharing the stage to greet the media. The “grilling” of the chefs was followed up by the exciting announcement that the show will take new shape in 2015 as the Toronto Food & Wine Festival in a partnership with the world-class publication, Food & Wine Magazine.
Post breakfast it was on to the enjoyment of a delicious day: sampling great fare from restaurants, caterers and food purveyors; entertaining autograph signings with Chuck Hughes and Mario Batali; toasting with a few great brews; and discovering great new people, products and ideas. The third time still continued to be a charm with this show and I look forward to what organizers will be cooking up for next year. Buon Appetito!
